Advanced: Fabric of Identity
Service Title: Fabric of Identity
Mixed-Media & Textile Masterclass for Emerging Creatives (Ages 16–25)
The Offer: What is included?
Technical Innovation: A deep dive into mixed-media on fabric, combining acrylic layering, textile manipulation, and symbolic mark-making.
Identity Exploration: Facilitated sessions using art to navigate personal narratives, heritage, and "The Frontline" of modern identity.
Professional Kit & Resources: Access to specialist fabric primers and textile-specific acrylic techniques used in professional studio practice.
Concept Demo Piece: A high-level sample piece that demonstrates how to translate complex social themes into a visual, tactile medium.
The Value: Why it’s unique?
This project treats young people as emerging artists, not just students.
Interdisciplinary Skills: By mixing acrylics with fabric, participants learn the versatile techniques I used for my works in the British Library and Leeds City Museum.
Safe Space for Dialogue: Using my background as a QTLS educator, I create an environment where difficult conversations around heritage and identity are processed safely through the "barrier" of the canvas.
Portfolio & Exhibition Ready: The final pieces are designed to be high-quality works suitable for university portfolios, local exhibitions, or professional digital galleries.
Investment & Logistics
Rate: £100 per hour
Length of Service: Best delivered as intensive weekend "Bootcamps" or evening "Studio Sessions" (e.g., 3-hour sessions over 4 weeks).
Target Audience: College/University students, NEET young people (Not in Education, Employment, or Training), and youth community hubs.
