my practice

"My creative life is a constant navigation between two worlds: the quiet, focused energy of my own studio and the vibrant, unpredictable spirit of the classroom.

For me, being an artist and an educator aren’t separate roles—they are the inhale and exhale of the same practice. In my studio, I grapple with the complexity of heritage and identity, translating the rhythm of Roots Reggae and the echoes of African history into textiles, paintings, and sound. It is a space of private discovery that leads to a very public life; my work travels from these four walls to be exhibited regularly in galleries and held in both public and private collections across the country.

But the journey doesn't stop at the gallery wall. Navigating the creative and education sectors requires a unique kind of balance—the ability to be a student of history while being a leader in the community. Through my workshops and public projects, I take the lessons learned in my studio and turn them into a shared language. Whether I’m standing before a class or a canvas, my mission is the same: to peel back the layers of our shared stories and make something truly meaningful together.
